Anyone who still brazes today will be familiar with the fact that the entire brazing equipment, including the gas cylinder, has to be carried to the construction site and set up on site. Oh, and don't forget the solder! Approvals have to be obtained beforehand so that the gas cylinder can be turned on indoors. In addition, brazing work in existing buildings is usually only possible at certain, pre-agreed times. And in hotels or office buildings, for example, the sprinkler systems must be switched off before open flames are used.

By comparison, the pressing process: Simply and quickly unpack the pressing device and you're ready to go: after the initial preparation of the joint, pressing alone only takes around five seconds. About seven times faster than brazing. This saves many hours of working time on large projects with many hundreds of pipe connections! So leave your soldering set in the workshop in future.

Our long-standing system partner Conex Bänninger has carried out a laboratory test to determine the pressure up to which pipe connections with press-fitted fittings can withstand. A minimum operating pressure of 48 bar must be maintained for a coolant pipe.

In the laboratory, the pressure on the pipe connection was gradually increased - up to 270 bar! It was not the pressed connection that burst - but the pipe. Since then, we have been happy to answer the question of how secure a pressed pipe connection is - with ‘270 bar’.

When brazing, on the other hand, there are many sources of error, such as a flame that is too cold or improperly used solder. Not to mention the error-prone handling when soldering.

Making pipe connections in  new buildings is one thing. The other is working in existing buildings.  You are constantly being called to hotels, airports, office buildings or hospitals. You don't really want to handle open flames and gas cylinders. Pressing with the Novopress devices, is a flame-free connection technology. It does not require a separate licence for hot work. There is also no need to carry out complex risk assessments, as is usually the case with soldering. So it's better to work cool with Novopress and connect pipe and fitting in a relaxed manner.
